Choosing The Right Security System

About a year ago, I lived through the scare of a lifetime when my home was broken into by a group of criminals. My entire family was terrified, and I was concerned about how the experience would affect my family's feeling of safety for years to come. Fortunately, a friend of mine told me that there was a company that offered incredible security systems. I met with the team of security professionals, and they were really great. They walked us through everything that was available, and it was really amazing to see how much we had access to. This blog is here to help you to choose a great security system for your place.

How To Use Home Automation To Improve Your Home's Security

Home automation can do a lot of things, from turning on your lights automatically to playing your favorite songs with a simple phrase spoken out loud. While home automation can make your life easier, it can also help make your home more secure. Here are a few ways you can use home automation to beef up your home security.

Smart Locks

Smart locks eliminate the need for traditional keys, and they also provide flexibility regarding who you allow to have access to your home. You can set up temporary lock codes for dog walkers and babysitters, and you can give everyone in your household unique codes to open the door. These locks typically come with mobile app access, which you can use to review who is entering the home every day and when they are opening the door.

Smart Monitors

There are a host of smart monitors you can use to make sure that your home remains safe. These include smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and leak detectors. Each monitor sends information to your mobile device if there is a potential problem, and this means you can be aware of issues even when you are away from home. For example, if your leak detector goes off in the basement, you'll get a notification that lets you know there is an issue. You can use this information to come home and check your washing machine to prevent flooding in the basement.

Mobile Alerts

Perhaps one of the biggest benefits of home automation is the ability to set up mobile alerts on your smartphone. These alerts can indicate when motion has been detected by motion-sensing lights or cameras, and it can also let you know when someone has attempted to open the front door to your home. With instant alerts to your mobile device, you can determine if there's any action that needs to be taken. For example, if it's not time for your children to be home from school but someone has unlocked the front door, you may decide to contact the authorities. When motion alarms go off, you can watch a live video feed of your home to see who or what is causing the issue.

Of course, there are many other smart devices you can use in your home automation setup. Smart lighting, for example, lets you set up customized timers for your lights, so no two lights go on at the same time each day. Smart camera systems provide surveillance for the outside of your home as well as useful information about how babysitters, nannies, dog walkers, and repair people handle themselves inside your home. Partner with your security system company to determine how home automation can be incorporated into your current system for improved whole-home security.
